About Us

Standing as sentinel and sanctuary at these historic crossroads since 1756. Light years away from the speed of the electronic age and aggravation of modern business life.

“The George” still offers that safe haven along with a satisfying seasonal changing menu. Great steaks, veal, chicken abound, as well as an excellent selection of fresh seafood. Several half-portion entrees are offered for lighter appetites, as well as burgers and lighter fare. All washed down with an ample selection wine list; by the bottle, and by the glass.

The main floor hosts two cozy dining rooms. The Yorkshire Room is the larger. The Hearth Room offers fireside dining in the cooler months. In season, outdoor dining is available on the Boulevard Café. The upstairs Windows dining area overlooking Hamilton Boulevard, and downstairs Grand Fireplace Room are available for private parties. All three floors boast antique bars.

The King George Inn was designated by Congress in 1976 as a “National Historic Site”. Continental citizen soldiers “Minutemen” drilled on what is now our parking lot. And if walls could talk; in all probability clandestine “Sons of Liberty” meetings were held within also.John and Samuel Adams* reputedly spent an evening here in 1777, coming from York** on the way to Boston, via New York.

**British occupied Philadelphia, thus congress met in York.
